Into The Darkness – The Rebirth Session Episode 019 (12th November 2004)

Both my John O’Callaghan and my Alex MORPH phases were well into their full swing by the time I got around to this demo mix. It was slightly more pre-meditated than the first two in that I had an actual intention to remain on for the time of the show – for The Storm Before The Calm and Paradise Found I was actually only allotted two hours but kept on for the final extra 45 mins 😉

Into The Darkness - Front Cover

The title for this demo comes from an old friend of mine – of a sort. Back when I was at university studying creative writing we once had to do an exercise on the haiku. I love haiku poetry and writing it is especially invigorating because there is so little margin for scope and the structure is very rigid.

Anyway, one of the numerous ways in which I keep myself amused during the daily drudgery of life is writing in haiku, but there was one I wrote back at university during that very first exercise on them that we ever had, that I like more than any I’ve written since, even though I’ve changed the wording slightly down the years:

Life is like a road
Passing through the horizon
Into the darkness

I actually use the same haiku on the back cover of one of my later demos 😉
