Defcon Recordings Day – Back From The Dead Episode 150 (30th August 2012)

Originally I wanted Defcon Day to be at the end of September, so as to fit this episode in chronologically with the rest, but since that would have meant it clashed with my wedding anniversary, Defcon Day instead had to come forward a month, and episode 150 come out four days before 149!

Always wanted to do Defcon Day and so when it struck me that I might be able to combine the event with a special BFTD celebration, I wasn’t going to let the idea go. Dan at Afterhours was wonderfully accommodating, as we all the DJs invited to take part in the event! If you want to hear any of the other shows, by the way, all the sets are available in the forum thread here 🙂

As with all my milestone episodes like this, I tend to sit down and go through the tracklists of all the previous episodes of the show in order to get a feel for the tunes I’ve enjoyed playing throughout the whole time it’s been on air. With BFTD having become “my uplifting show” as it were, the notion of the journey set seemed a little self-indulgent, especially since I was following on from Ronny! Hence there’s not so much of a warm up as an intro.

Originally I did want to speak over the first minute or so of the show to thank everyone for support on Defcon Day and 5+ years at Afterhours FM – I believe it would’ve been the first time in over 600 shows that my dulcet Yorkshire accent had ever made it onto the airwaves. However, with all the other sets to do, Ibiza, etc etc, it was another thing I never managed to get around to sorting, since without a microphone I’d have had to fashion some kind of alternative, which I probably still may get to one day, you never know 😉
