Trance Atlantic I – The Rebirth Session Episode 049 (26th August 2005)

I may have already said so, but if not, the thing that I like most about my soiree into internet broadcasting is the fact that it’s put me in touch with so many wonderful people that I’d have otherwise never come across. 🙂

One such person is my friend Blake, aka Phayden, one of my regular listeners on DJSR. During our conversations in the chat, it turned out that Blake was due to visit England in the summer of 2005 as part of his year out before starting college in Vancouver, and he wanted to see the trance scene for itself.

Delighted to play host up in sunny Doncaster he duly visited us for the August Bank Holiday, as several of my friends and I were due to go to Creamfields, as it’s my birthday on the 28th. Blake had never been clubbing before and it was going to be his first experience, and what an experience it was!

Meanwhile, the day before, we made history by doing a trans-Atlantic special of The Rebirth Session, going back to back for the whole show. I chose the first tune and Blake had the first mix, and after that we just had one each from there 😀

Modern Classics V – The Rebirth Session Episode 048 (19th August 2005)

This was the fifth and final edition of the Modern Classics series, although to be fair I’ve never actually ever ruled out doing a sixth!

But this is probably the culmination of all my years of vinyl hunting – there are still tunes I want to track down (Chiller Twist – Stringz Unlimited? Anyone?) but thankfully my need has ebbed as the years have passed, and the digital revolution has solved many problems in that respect for me.

Although saying that, I just two seconds ago managed to track down a copy of Strings Unlimited and ordered it, after being reminded in the previous paragraph! Vinyl will never die 🙂

Back From The Dead Episode 053 (11th August 2005)

This was actually one of my all time favourite BFTD episodes, when I look back. It’s when I also first tried to do the I Feel Loved vs Spiral transition which you may notice many times in the shows from now on!

This was because I’d actually been out at the weekend before – for that gig I mentioned at Home with John Askew, Activa, and Danjo & Styles. Basically I’d gone back to Chris’s flat for a mix afterwards, since I obviously had my tunes with me, and we’d had an absolutely awesome night 🙂 The I Feel Spiral mix was born at about 5am in Chris’s flat, with me in a state so drunken I neither remember the taxi ride there or the taxi ride back later on 😉 In fact, 4 years later, about the only thing I do remember of it was the I Feel Loved into Spiral mix!

One thing I’ll never tire of is that OMG moment I get in the headphones when I’m cueing up the next tune and I realise they’re perfectly in key and sound amazing together 🙂

The irony of it is though, I believe I actually did it wrongly this first time lol 😀
